Carbon Countdown, Planting Season Ideas, and BMHS BC Rooftop Solar
Saturday March 26th 9:30 to 11 am: You are invited to attend Carbon Countdown sponsored by Sustainable Middlesex. The event features Senator Mike Barrett updating the assembly on the status of climate legislation in Massachusetts followed by a series of breakout rooms exploring local programs that “reach beyond the choir”, engaging citizens who are not normally active in climate action. The next Sustainable Belmont Meeting will be in Thursday April 7th 7:00 to 8:30 pm on the topic “How to Build Biodiversity in your Yard”. Belmont’s Sarah Wang and Jean Devine of the Mystic Charles Pollinator Pathways Group will offer a range of tips and strategies for ways to create and support habitat in your outdoor space. There will plenty of time to handle your gardening questions in the Q and A following the presentation. Through this meeting Sarah and Jean are offering us all a great way to guide some Massachusetts Native spring plantings right in time for garden season which could put you on the Mystic Charles Pollinator Map! Tonight the Belmont Select Board (SB) meets (Mon 3/21 at 7pm). At around 7:30 pm, SB is slated to deliberate and vote $1m on ARPA allocation for BMHSBC Roof Top Solar PV. The overwhelming majority of comments (20+) during SB’s public hearing (starting at 31 minutes) on 3/7 were in support of ARPA funding for PV. Join tonight, if you can, to show your support.
